Wildlife observation areas

A focused wildlife observation area is planned to include a hide for bird and deer watching, together with a hi-tech station fitted with interactive and remote cameras which will record wildlife activity during both day and night. Regular small bird feeding areas will be established, along with a carrion feeding station.

Thistledown has an extensive collection of badger setts on the site which have been thoroughly researched. The farm has been live capture study centre for scientists at DEFRA for over 25 years and much is known about the badgers and their territories throughout the farm.  Dusk safaris will be organized at appropriate times of the year to allow small groups of visitors to observe badger activity and find out more about them.
