A message from Thistledown Farm

Dear Friends and Campers

We know that Thistledown Farm means so much to so many, so it is with great sadness that we have to announce that our journey here has come to a close, having had the privilege and pride of owning and caring for this beautiful piece of land for almost 30 years.

It has been a very difficult decision- one we haven’t wanted to make- but due to a multitude of reasons, both practical and personal, we have finally accepted that now is the right time to hand over the stewardship of this land …to our neighbours at Woodchester Park: The National Trust.

Both the campsite and café will therefore be closed from now onwards until further news from the National Trust, as they decide in which direction they wish to take the land.

We know, in time, they will continue to allow the general public to access the land, to enjoy and share the beauty of the farm, as we have. We also trust they will care for the land with a similar ethos and long term vision as we have had, and have the funds needed to continue to invest in it.

Thank you to everyone who has camped here and enjoyed this special place with us at Thistledown- we have loved sharing the farm with you; many, we feel, have become good friends. We have loved watching your families grow –as many of you return each year -and hearing your tales, as we trundled around on the wood run. Thank you also to everyone who has been part of the Thistledown Team over the years. We wish you all well and hope you, too, will keep fond memories of Thistledown with you, wherever you are and wherever you go.

Best wishes

Kate and Richard
